Birthday cards

I read an article today about Alyssa Bruno, a five-year-old girl in New York. She has a brain tumor and has recently lost all function on the left side of her body. Her birthday is coming up and her kindergarten teacher thought it would be nice if Alyssa could get birthday cards from a lot of different people, so the teacher sent an email to everyone in her address book. Apparently this email has taken on a life of its own and is now being widely circulated. Unlike so many of the chain letters we get in our email inboxes, this one is not a hoax.

Read the article, check it out for yourself on the urban legends reference site, and then go send this little girl a birthday card. Her birthday is August 2, so I'm planning to get my card in the mail today.
