Zucchini

This article caught my eye. I remember doing a report on black-footed ferrets at some point during elementary school in the 1980's--maybe third or fourth grade? We all had to pick an endangered species, and as the article points out, the black-footed ferrets were at one time the most endangered mammals in the world. We each wrote a report on our animal and made a diorama showing it in its natural habitat. I think I may still have the little ferret that I painted for the diorama.

On a related note, did anyone else read this book sometime in elementary school? I hadn't even thought of it in years, but I seem to remember it being a cute little story. Maybe I'll see if our library has it so I can read it with my girls.
